Nickolas Bilahuk is a dedicated herpetologist and the founder of Bilahuk Family Farm & Wildlife Rescue, a licensed 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization based in Graham, North Carolina. With a deep passion for reptiles—especially turtles—Nickolas has spent years studying, rescuing, and rehabilitating injured wildlife.
What began as a personal mission to care for the most overlooked creatures in our ecosystems has grown into a full-fledged rescue and education center. Under his leadership, the farm provides critical care to injured animals, long-term sanctuary for non-releasable wildlife, and educational outreach to the community.
Nickolas brings not only scientific knowledge and field experience, but also a heart for conservation and compassion. His commitment to wildlife rehabilitation is rooted in the belief that every animal deserves a chance to heal and live safely—whether in the wild or under careful human care.
Thanks to his vision and persistence, Bilahuk Family Farm has become a local haven for turtles and other wild species in need, as well as a valuable resource for wildlife education and humane relocation services.
Testimonials
“We sought out to help a box turtle that our dog got ahold of, but we also gained an educational experience for the whole family. We felt good knowing that the turtle was being taken care of and healing properly, but also that the advice and information given to us was accurate. We will definitely keep following and supporting them!”

We were on vacation and found a turtle in the road. we stopped to help her cross and realized she was already hurt and bleeding from her shell but she stuck her little head out for a moment and made eye contact with me and I just knew we had to do whatever it was necessary to save her.. so we started calling wildlife rescues in the area and eventually someone referred me to Nicholas and he made time to meet us straight away and got to work assessing her injuries .. Road rash and multiple cracks in her shell.. in less than 2 weeks she’s had made a full recovery and has been released in back into the wild. 10/10 recommend Nicholas and Bilahuk Family Farms for any reptile rescue in the area. Best part of it all is that despite us being from Florida, we were given updates on her progress all the way to release and it’s wonderful to see the product of showing an animal in need kindness. Thank you Bilahuk Family Farms for the work you do with these animals my kids learned such valuable life lessons that day we found Michael Angela
